Facing Liberty in the first game of the KingCo playoffs, MI's pitcher Jack Beebe and Liberty's Terry Hayes dueled and kept the game scoreless until the 6th inning. Liberty scored two runs, and at the bottom of the 7th inning, the Islanders rallied back to score 2 runs, tying the game. In the top of the 8th inning, pitcher Charlie Seneker and Islander defense held the Patriots scoreless. In the bottom of 8, Cutter Werdel got things started with a lead-off triple, followed by two intentional walks and then a bases loaded walk-off single by Marques Abulhosn to win the game, 3-2.
The KingCo championship game Wednesday 5/10 at 7 pm is sure to be a competitive match up between MI and Lake Washington. Winner goes to state, loser plays on Thursday for the other KingCo opportunity to go to state. Let's go MI!! Thank you fans for coming out to support the team!
MI Varsity clinched the Kingco title with wins over Interlake (7-3) and Lake Washington (3-0) this week. The team had exceptional pitching, some key hits, and outstanding defense to earn these wins and advance to the playoffs. First playoff game is Monday, May 8 at 4 pm. Come out to Bannerwood Park to support your Islanders!
Varsity finished last week 3-for-3 and moved into second place in Kingco. Led by exceptional pitching from Austin Cupic and Jack Beebe with each pitching complete games and shut outs, the Islanders scored wins against Juanita (won 3-0) and Liberty (won 1-0). On Friday, a team effort earned the win over Bellevue (won 7-4) on senior night. Wednesday is also Alumni and Fan Appreciation night at ICP with first pitch at 7 pm. We’ll be grilling and DJ Rob is playing the hits!
